Saban Family Foundation
Mission Statement
The Saban Family Foundation was created to support the healthy development of children and families in the United States and to identify and address unmet societal needs in Israel.
In the U.S., the Foundation is primarily interested in promoting the well-being of children and their families. In order to reach their full potential, young people need healthy starts, caring adults, safe spaces, education for marketable skills, and opportunities to contribute to their communities. Support will be provided for a select number of organizations engaged in providing high-quality health care, social services, and K-12 education. Grants will be for program initiatives as well as policy and advocacy efforts on behalf of children whose needs in these areas are not being met. The Foundation has a particular interest in mentoring programs and efforts to serve children in foster care. As an organization based in Los Angeles, the Foundation is primarily interested in supporting programs within the state of California. In special cases the Foundation also would consider supporting programs with national reach.
In Israel, the Saban Family Foundation is interested in partnering with local organizations to develop creative solutions to critical needs. The Foundation will make grants in two primary areas: promoting the well-being of those serving the military and addressing the problems of domestic violence and child abuse. In addition, the Foundation will support U.S. organizations committed to strenghtening the relations between the U.S. and Israel.
In 1999, Cheryl Saban and the Saban Family Foundation created the not-for-profit organization 50 Ways To Save Our Children (www.50ways.org), to encourage philanthropy and public service to the benefit of children and their families. The organization's goal is to educate, guide and inspire tomorrow's philanthropists to get involved with existing local, national and global charitable organizations that have a track record of serving the myriad needs of children and their families.
The Foundation's grantmaking is directed to organizations with well-defined objectives and sound leadership. While the Foundation does not expect to provide long-term, ongoing support to organizations, renewal requests will be considered based on a satisfactory review of previous grants. No grants will be made to individuals or private foundations.

The universe cannot sustain itself without full justice and equality for women in all aspects of life.

It is important for our daughters and sons to see women and men as different, but equally valued members of society. The measure of a person's worth has nothing to do with gender and everything to do with character.
